As a centuries-old game, chess is known for being one of the most challenging games around. The challenge it presents requires skillful thinking, as each move must be thoughtfully planned out. Surprisingly, this same strategy that applies to playing chess can also help in business. Businesses must take into account their competition and customers while setting objectives and implementing tactics. In order to remain successful, companies need to use sound strategies—just like a skilled chess player would do on the board.
As (an amateur) chess player, chess helped me a lot to develop many skills which I am using on daily basis in my daily work, I am here writing this article to share my thoughts by answering a general question:

Additionally, one of the main reasons why many start-ups or small businesses fail is due to impatience or lack of discipline. As with chess, success takes time, effort, patience, and discipline. So if you want to be successful in business, don’t rush into things and stay focused on the task at hand until it’s complete.
8. Consider Your Opponent
In both chess and business, it’s important to understand who you’re up against—their strengths, weaknesses, and strategies. Understanding this will help you know what kind of moves you should take so that your opponent won’t be able to outsmart you.
